purchasing leica screwmounts

Hmmm...
ya know.. the prices @ Collectible aren't that bad.

Are those cameras all "serviced" and ready to go or are they "as is" - it would add a bit of comfort compared to the standard Ebay ads that claim that the seller knows nothing about the camera and it's T.S. if it doesn't work once you get it.

Cheers,
Dave

Dave,

The cameras are serviced unless Sandy states otherwise. I bought a IIIf from him recently and he had his Leica tech check all the speeds for accuracy etc before he released it. I know he's a bit higher than some others but the cameras will work when you get them. This includes a Contax IIIa I bought from him about a year ago....no relation or affiliation to me.

I've purchased four cameras from Ritz / Collectible Cameras - my first two LTMs ( D-1932 and IIIf-1952), Contax IIIa w/ f:2 Sonnar, and Voiglander Prominent I outfit ( camera, & 3 lenses) over the last three years, plus numerous small goodies.

The gear is "checked-out" by their staff for function / condition, and any issues are noted. I do not believe every piece is "serviced". unless specifically noted in the listing. Many of his Leica outfits will say "recent CLA by DAG"... or "recent service".

I still like to "price shop", but have never had a quality issue with Collectible Camera. Good customer service.

The classifieds here are probably the best / safest place to get quality gear, if you're patient; sellers are going to be forthcoming about any known issues a piece might have. Plus, it's a small community, so if somebody repeatedly sells lemons, word will get around 😉 .

Haven't bought any LTM from KEH, but other gear from them has been first-class, even "Bargain" rated...

Happy Hunting !

I will echo shopping Collectible Camera in Phoenix. I bought my IIIf (first RF) there. Sandy gave me 30 days to try it out, tossed in a great vintage Leica book, and made sure I could load the thing before I left. I live about 30 minutes away and I love all the vintage on all those shelves.
