After a brief but notorious career as one of the "big" stars of the adult entertainment industry, David has found time on the other side of the lens as a valuable way to trick women into thinking he has a sensitive, creative side.

"David has been photographing with renewed urgency once it was made a condition of his parole."
David’s up-skirt Holga photography has garnered both ridicule and praise. David’s ability to capture nuanced light along with the palatable fear of his victims/models defines this genre of photography. Unfortunately the prosecutor was a conservative stooge with no love for the arts.

In the French, Hegel's quote is a little shorter looking, and more "poetic".![]()
The Hegelian dialectic is inscrutable in any language.

I get the feeling we have been to the same business meetings! Good to see that you are 110% on board with the blue sky, out of the box thinking that defines our generation.
Thanks! After 25 years in Corporate America I despise "mission statements". However, many of those here who took this thread a tad more seriously than I did did some excellent work. If I ever need a statement to explain myself at a gallery, I'd need to hire a writer, or have my agent write something for me...

Often People want to know about the photographer in order to show it.
This is very true. Often, a quick thumbnail sketch biography can help "place" an artist in some sort of context that is relevant to the viewer.
There is nothing wrong with having no rhyme or reason to what you photograph; however, that approach might be a problem if one hopes to really get somewhere with it.
Actually, you've hit a string there, for me. Most of my photography is quite haphazard. You might call them "found" shots, almost. But then it's only ever been a hobby for me, a form of creative outlet. Something I'll have to think about...
I know great work should be able to stand alone, but understanding the context can make more sense of it and add pleasure to the viewing experience. People like to 'get it.'
And I think this is where Frank was coming from in the first place. Thanks for the post, It's got me thinking a little more seriously about what I do.
Cheers,
Steve

Part of my statement would say:
I use photography for my own purpose to attempt to see the beauty in the ordinary, the sublime in the banal.

Of the few times I have ever been asked to do this, I usually use just one line from the American novelist, Paul Auster, to describe my street photography:
"Everything can change at any moment, suddenly and forever."
