push-on lens caps

I have two push-on lens caps that are a little loose, and I'm wondering what I can put in there to make it fit better. On the plastic one, there seemed to be electrical tape or something in there; it made the fit tighter and it had some stickiness to it. But that came off the other day. On another cap, I can see the remains of some blue foam-ish stuff, but it's wearing away. It's for a Voitlander lens and fits on the shade fairly tight, but if I take that off, it seems wiggly loose just on the lens.

How do you fix this? I read somewhere else that someone used fabric seal from Jon Goodman's kit.

I believe that you'll find that the lenscap for the Voigtlander is designed to go on the lenshood, not directley onto the lens barrel. (Assuming it's a Cosina Voigtlander).

A-ha. It is -- it's a 35/2.5 pancake. So is there a different cap for the lens itself? And is that maybe why the blue foamy stuff was there, a mod to put it straight on the barrel?

Hi,
I have used the sticky backed fabric from Jon's kit to renew several lenscaps. So far it has worked a treat on both metal and plastic ones from Canon, Pentax, Konica and a few others. You don't need to put it all the way round but perhaps at 4 or 6 equally spaced points. The thinner stuff works best and you have to be carefull so it doesn't roll-up when you use the cap. It took me a couple a goes to get it right but theres enough material in one sheet for loads of caps. All praise to Jon (yet again)
