Today (July 3) Erwin Putz has just started posting an analysis of the Zeiss M-mount lenses on his site ( see here.)

The first posting doesn't have any detailed info about any of the lenses yet, but he does trace some design history and philosophy. It interested me to note that while I'm accustoming to considering Erwin a Leica ideologue (if not Leica idolator) he does seem to convey a considerable respect for Zeiss as a design institution.

Thanks for the heads-up, Jim. Fascinating article! I always enjoy reading Irwin. In this article I found especially interesting his observation that the ZM lenses are not recycled Conatax G lenses & that they are new designs. Also of great interest is his elaboration on the design choices that went into the creation of the ZM lenses & the ways in which the Zeiss philosophy differs from the Leica philosophy & the choices that this makes available to the photographer.

It is also interesting to see that in the lenses that Zeiss has sent him is a 15/2.8. So, this lens has started to come off the production line in Germany & will certainly be available for the new distibution date of August. I'll look for his future installments with much interest.
