Howdy Folks,
I cannot verify this in my internet search , so here goes.

I have my eyes on this 28mm but saw randomly that it’s not compatible with m5 ( or CL but dont care). And while that’s not great the greater issue is I’m (mostly) shooting m240 these days.

Any insight here? Not being able to use on the m5 is a drag but not with the m240 is a deal breaker.

I’ll hang up and listen off the air, thank you all!

Are you sure it is not about previous version(s)?
I had this https://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/28mm_f/2.8_Elmarit-M_III which is 11804 or more known as III (which I personally call as Canadian Percheron) and it was nothing special (protruding, odd) on the mount side lens. I had it on M-E 220, which I don't think any different from M240 on the mount and such.
It was just huge lens, blocking VF.

Thanks for that link, yes, that confirms that it’s a III, 1991 and ELC. And I’m guessing that this is not a ringing endorsement of the lens.
