I would like to know if by turning the Canonet to manual this will equal to turning the batteries into OFF.

Also BTW, kindly comment on the yellow patches you have got in your Canonets, as mine 2 Cononets have a fairly poor yellow patch, for example compared to a Yashica GSN.

Yes switching the canonet to manual turns it 'off' and stops any drain on the batteries.

Even though it's not obvious on the schematic diagram, it looks like turning the aperture dial off A definitely turns it off-off.

Mine is nice and bright. No complaints. The only thing I ever did to that part was blow it out with canned air when it was first apart.

I'm going to try to take a photo thru the viewfinder -- idea from a thread here I think -- and I'll post the result.
