Hey all,

Just bought my 2nd rangefinder today, and joined this forum to check on what may be a problem. I got a cononet Ql17 g-lll ql (thank you Goodwill) and stuck an Eveready 1.5 volt battery in it just to see if the meter still worked. The meter needle and aperture work well, but the battery check light stays on constantly. If I install the correct 1.35 volt battery, will that correct this problem? I just developed the first roll, and am waiting for them to dry to make a contact print. The negs look pretty good, even with the wrong voltage battery installed. I think I'll clean up the viewfinder tonight and head down to Battery Plus tomorrow. Thanks for any advice.

Problem solved

Problem solved

I removed the top cover to expose the battery check assembly, and found the bracket that holds the mini light bulb and contact plate was too close to the battery check button. I gave it a little bend and the light and button now work great. I cleaned the viewfinder up and put it back together. After using my Argus c3 for black and white photography, the canon is a real joy. The negatives and 8x10 prints I've made so far have been vastly superior to my other cameras. The light seals on mine have mostly rubbed of, so I'll need to replace those, but I've really been impressed with the lens and meter of this camera.
