QL17: Can't shoot in manual mode ??

Hi,

I just received a used QL17 (not the G-III version)
The automatic mode works, but as soon as I turn the aperture ring away from the "A" setting, to set the exposure manually, the shutter is completely blocked. (Like in automatic mode, when the exposure meter is at the upper or lower limit).

Is this a known bug or is my QL17 broken?
Is there a known workaround?
