Hi All,

My light meter recent started acting really flakey. The needle would only move at times if I pressed the battery test button and sometimes it would work correctly if I fired off a few manual shots.

Nothing has change with the camera. I am using the 386 silver oxide cells and a converter from the small battery company.

Any thoughts?

Hi,
It is worth checking the wire connections to the battery box on the bottom of the camera. These quite often cause problems. If there has been any corrosion in the battery hole in the past, this could easily have spread itself up the wire and now be causing problems.

A little more than that. 😉 It is worth having a look under the bottom plate and if need be check the resistance of the wires to the meter section under the top plate.

Just take the battery out and poke around, I assume?

You might also wan't to check the contact in the base I have had a simular problem, Initially I thought I had bought a dud. After checking when I placed the battery in the chamber I could see that the contact was not very prominent, it was making an intermittent contact. You can take the base off and I think from memory I used a drop of super glue to stop it from moving back down when thje battery came into contact with it. Anyway worth a try.

Cheers David
