Question about Domke F-803 bag

I've got a Domke F-803 Camera Satchel Shoulder Bag (Sand) that I got back in 2007. It fell out of favor for my BareBonesBag. One reason why is all the lint that comes off of the F-803. Can this canvas Domke bag be tossed into the washing machine? If so, would I put it into the dryer afterwards? What about the bar inside of the cover, will that rust?

Oh, and is there anyway to make this material more water resistant?

you can wash it but i don't think i would dry it.
the 'bar' inside is plastic.

to water proof it any canvas water proofer should work.

I've washed them and then stuck them in the dryer with no problems. As Joe says the stiffener is plastic. I use Nikwax TX.Direct Spray-On from any outdoors store on all my Domkes. Three coats and the bag is waterproofed and yet the canvas still breathes. Highly recommended.
