Question about LVF1 viewfinder on Panasonic LX5

Hi all

I wasn't sure where to ask this question, here or in the m4/3 forum. (Probably off of RFF might be the best, but I'm not a member of other forums....)

Anyway, I have recently bought an LX5 and am interested in trying the LVF1 electronic viewfinder. This is mainly because I really like to hold a camera to my eye and not with outstretched arms.

I've read that the LVF1 "displays all the useful information on the camera's LCD, plus a live histogram."

My question is: what if I don't want the CLUTTER of all that "useful information"? What if I just want to look at the scene through the viewfinder for compositional purposes - can all the extra information be turned off?

I have searched extensively onthe internet for an answer to this question, but not found a definitive answer from someone who has used this combo of camera and EVF.

I have an LX5 and the viewfinder, for the same reasons you are looking.

The viewfinder displays the same information as the display, so the display setting on tha camera can eliminate all info besides the scene.

The electronic finder is nice enough, but I use the otptical finder on my LX5. The only downside to the optical finder is that it shows only a 24mm field of view, but the view is naturally brighter and more clear.
