Question about my IIIc covering

I'm curious about the covering on my IIIc. It's crinkly, solidly attached, and feels rough, sort of like sharkskin, but it doesn't resemble the sharkskin that I have felt on a real, live shark. Is it really sharkskin, or something else?

PS The real. live shark was a small leopard shark I pulled out of San Francisco Bay years ago.😱 Catch and release, BTW. I was after something edible.😉

The covering is vulcanite. No sharks were sacrificed to cover your Leica...😀 😀 😀
