question about the Jupiter 12

will the Jupiter 12 (in Contax mount, not Leica mount) fit in the post war Contax iia.

this is the Russian (Kiev) made 35mm f2.8 lens

the web site below suggests that it won't. Have members here tried it.

another related question. Other web links suggest that the black version which was apparently manufactured later is of better quality than the aluminum metal version. Any truth to that

No it fits in the Contax II (and Kiev) only.

not worth trying.
you will damage the shutter curtains and the back of the J-12 glass.
leave the J-12 for the Kiev/Contax II/III or an old scratched up Nikon S2 😉

didn't realize there was that much of a difference between the Contax II and the IIa
