Question about VC Voigtländer 35/1.2 Nokton Aspherical

At Stephen Gandys homepage it is mentioned that “some M8 owners reported focusing resistance as the lens focused near infinity. The factory determined this was caused by the rear element guard sometimes binding with the focusing mechanism, and issued a retrofit parts replacement. CameraQuest has modified all 35/1.2's in stock, and will only sell M8 modified 35/1.2's in the future.

_ what exact is the problem Nokton 1.2 – M8. Only at some M8or at all M8s ?

_ and is the “modification” only done by Stephen or is it by Cosina factory starting from a certain serial number (if yes from which serial number?)

Background. I am looking for a used 1.2./35 . And even as a non M-8 owner it might be interesting.

Thanks in advance

The problem was with the tab on the rear of the lens, not the M8 body. The Cosina factory modified the tab with an "indent"/"step" so it would clear the focusing mechanism. Cosina provided parts to retrofit lenses already in inventories at stores, but all new lenses leaving the factory from about January 2007 have the new type tab.

In the attached photo, you can see the tab marked by the arrow has the "indent"/"step" in it. This is the new type tab. The previous type tab did not have this "indent" or "step" and was instead a solid piece.
