Just got a 7s from the 'bay for basically shipping costs. Clean body and glass, no battery. I know where to get the battery. Question is: Does the 7s require the battery to operate manually? I think I noticed a post somewhere that says so. Can anyone verify? Are there ramifications regarding iris/shutter operation?

I don't think you need a battery to run in manual. Either way, nice camera. I took a basically shipping costs Hi-Matic 11 out this afternoon for some fun and ended up with some keeper shots; they lenses were really really nice for their time...

It doesn't, the shutter and everything is mechanical - only battery needed for meter

No, the battery is only for the meter.
