Question directly to Gman ... re: LED on GSN

-first I just want to confest that I caught the Electro bugs, got an GS just 3 weeks ago, now just received a GSN and a complete GT setup is on the way. btw, the GSN rewind lever hub made of PLASTIC ! why did they do that to an upgrade model !?
Beside the hot shoe, the lock button is more solid and stiff, the leaf shutter looks better/higher quality with matte finish (ala Oly 35 SPn)

Question:

-Any how, my new GSN seem to work fine and the POD is in Perfect condition (probably got replaced by previous owner), but the OVER LED (RED) does not lid up at all (in overexpose condition). I'm about to replace the LED, just wondering if the original LED is a 6V bulb or the camera's current for the bulb is lower ? I just want to make sure I got the right voltage LED.

Thanks Gman, installed a modern LED with variable voltage, when slightly pressed, the LED would lit up very dim (when not over exposed) , but in overexposed situation, it would lit up extremely bright .... add the uniqueness to my GSN 🙂

for the rewind hub, i'm sure it a Chrome hard plastice piece (extremely light, only the lever is metal) compare to my GS. Will receive my GT setup today yeeeehaw ! 🙂

The last GSN I bought also had the plastic rewind, which was the first time I had seen it. As I took it apart, I found that the black rewind shaft housing was also made of plastic, and was cracked. I was going to replace it with a metal one from a junker, but the screw pattern turned out to be different, the plastic one having three screws and the metal one having two. Ended up super gluing the crack, which seemed OK. This must have been a very late model GSN, toward the end of production when they were trying to make it as cheaply as possible.

As you look at the construction of the cameras, from the original Electro through the GSN, you can see where they started to cut corners and make things cheaper. For instance, the construction of the rangefinder windows: metal retaining clips on the Electros, melted over plastic on the GSN. But, they both got the job done...

You probably have one (or more) around your house, find a dead electronic stuff (anything, camera, old computer keyboard, old cell phone charger etc...) got mine from a dead key light.

Wait a sec! Are you sure it's a LED? My GL has very small light bulbs, not LEDs. I don't kow if LEDs and light bulbs are interchangeable.
