Question for OM-D users

Well, the silver OM-D which I've had on order has arrived!! I finally had some time to take it out and play with it a bit and work thru the settings and menus.

I wanted to ask about something I noticed when I took the camera outside. The EVF is very bright and contrasty indoors but when I look thru the EVF outside, it appears somewhat dim. Is that normal? I found the menu setting to adjust the EVF color balance & brightness but perhaps i'm not setting it correctly.

Do you have the evf/live view boost enabled?

That's the only thing I can think of.

The evf image is boosted in low light, as typically occurs indoors. By contrast (sorry, bad pun) when shooting outdoors in bright light, there is no need for the evf image to be boosted and as a result it can seem a slight bit darker than the surrounding natural light. However, I have not noticed it to be dim or difficult to use outdoors (in fact, I just spent two days shooting mine out in the bright California sun with no noticeable dimness problems).

On a related note, I find that the default brightness of the LCD gives an unrealistic depiction of what the image will be like. This has lead to images being very underexposed. I've adjusted mine down by two clicks for a much more WYSIWYG experience.

I set the live view boost to "on" and that worked! I think what Randy said is true, the EVF is so bright indoors, I guess I was expecting the same outside. Not that it was too dark to view through, it just wasn't as bright as what I was seeing indoors.
