Hi all,

I've got an R3A that I've used for around 3 months. Just yesterday I was shooting and the 1 and 2000 started flashing on either side of the shutter speed readout. Switching to manual mode, the numbers still flashed.

What does this mean? Is this a low battery warning or something?

Also, has anyone ever had problems with the camera just freezing up? Twice I've wound the film but the shutter won't depress, the meter won't come on and the film won't wind any further. I've fixed it by winding the film off and wiggling the film release button, the wind lever and the button. It's a frustrating problem! I was thinking that it might happen if I wind immediately after shooting (perhaps too quickly).

Ben.

Hi Ben, Did you get an instruction manual with your camera? I just got an R2A a few days ago. In the manual, on page 32, it gives low battery symptoms, including " 2000" and "1" leds flashing. Also on the bottom of page 34, it mentions winding film advance slowly. Hope you've got it figured out by now. Best regards, Gerry

Thanks, Gerry. I left my manual at my friend's house in Bend, Oregon, but I do recall reading something like that about the flashing LEDs. I'll change the batteries tonight.

And I will remember to wind more slowly! Thanks!

My battery's still good, but I have experienced the shutter / film advance lock problem. It has happened sporadically, usually after long periods of not being used (and being turned on). I'm wondering if this is also a symptom of having a battery nearly drained prior to the battery low indicator appearing...

I've had the same battery installed since I got the camera, maybe 3 or 4 months ago now... maybe more. I rarely turn the thing off, and when I do, it's usually to prevent the shutter from firing when toting the R3A around.
