I have two new computers here, both with 1GB RAM, but we do not have DSL or any other form of high-speed internet connection. I have been trying to open the RFF rough draft on-line and have let the computer for work about a half hour or more each time with no luck -- is this just not going to be possible with my modem type connection (48 - 50 Kbps)? Is it the internet connection or is it my computers? It ties everything else up and slows anything else that I try to do.

P. S. Should I continue and just be patient, or will something taking so long harm the computer in some way?

Shouldn't do any harm, just go grab some coffee! It'll definantly hog your bandwith and slow up any other internet stuff. Ram won't help you any. Make sure you do the right-click and save as pdf, don't try to open it with your browser. Good luck.

Sorry to be such a computer idiot, but I clicked on the link which I assume means I was trying to open it in my browser. Should I instead right click on the link? Again, I apologize but I've never done this on a link before. If I am asked where to save it what do you suggest? I have some external hard drives -- is that a better place to store it? Thanks.

It'll probably be faster to save on your internal HD if you have room for it.
Also, Opening it in your browser will probably make it take longer, so right click. What browser/OS are you using?

Scott,
There should be plenty of room on the internal HD. I'm running Windows XP Professional, or Pro XP -- something like that. As long as it doesn't hurt anything I'll let it download tonight on the other computer. Thank you for the help.

P. S. I store all my images on the external drives, so the internal HD is relatively empty -- I think it is 80GB.

Still can not open/download the RFF book info. When I right click the link nothing happens; it appears as though my only choice is to download through my browser (IE). I tried this morning and left the computer alone for three + hours and still no dice. Any suggestions? Is it because I'm blonde?

Usualy it's right click -> save link as and then it asks where. If not, you'll probably find it as a new icon on the desktop.

Sorry, don't have an english XP and IE and don't know the original english menu entries.
