Hello, just wondering what the new shutter is like. Is it the same design, similar to an SLR? How is the noise? Could someone please post some pics of inside the back door so I don't have to go and buy one.

Thanks.

Yes, the design is similar to an SLR. Noise to my mind is like an SLR without the mirror slap. Not comparable with a leaf shutter. I do not have a digital camera with me so I cannot post a pic.

The new R3a shutter is, to my ears, very similar to the R2 - I don't notice much difference in the volume, but the tone is a little different. Not better, not worse - to be honest, the only time I even think about it is when I read a thread like this. At least to me, the sound of the shutter is a non-issue.

I would say that the Bessas' shutter is very similar to a modern SLR in volume, but more mechanical-sounding and without the additional clatter of the mirror slap. Quite frankly, it's fine.

I agree, about the same as the R2. Not as loud as a SLR, but not as quiet as my pocket digital P&S (read slient here). The M4 falls somewhere inbetween. Hope that helps.

Compared to my SLR`s Bessa R (Not R2/2a/3a) is louder.
I have a Pentax ME Super and Nikon F100/D70.

But the Canonet beats them all 🙂
The Rolleiflex is pretty quiet too.
