I need an external finder for a Bessa T, for a 40mm lens, and I see all wide finders are bigger and and with curved front precisely from 12 to 40mm... Then the 50mm finder is small...

I prefer the looks of the 50.

Could it be used on the T for a 40mm Nokton without big problems?

Is there any difference in the feel -when you see through them- between both designs?

Thanks!

If you're happy to estimate the precise frame lines then Helios do a small multifinder which looks like a 50mm finder but has brightlines for 35-85-135. I guess 40mm would be just inside the 35mm lines. I have used it in low light with a 50mm lens with acceptable results.
They are cheap too - £30 on ebay

The difference between the plastic bodied finders and the 50mm 1:1 finder is that the 50mm has a metal housing. Not good if you wear glasses as it likes to scratch them up.

The 50mm lines show less than the 50mm POV at greater than short distances, so you're moving even further away from the 40mm of your lens.

Without knowing how much size difference is important to you I cannot say - but -for me- it is nothing - we're talking millimetres here.

Brainwood, I just wanted to thank you for the Helios info... I found it on ebay and ordered it from UK to Spain, easy! As my package with VC gear had just been sent by my family from Florida to Barcelona, your advice came in the best moment!

The finder looks OK, and lines for teles might be useful one day for portraits... But what I liked the most is -stupid thing- the black base, instead of silver, great for black shoes...

Thanks!

Good stuff !! I use my little Helios alot particulary with my Fed 2 as it provides a good bright finder. Even guessing the 50mm frame is fairly reliable.
