I have an S3 2000 bought new and used very sparingly. I have never tried to use the ASA reminder dial on the base plate. A friend told me they often are too tight to use, so I tried mine and I am not able to get it off of the factory setting of 100. Any advice or experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Ray

Got it. On my S3-2000 it is very firm, I had to switch it by using a thumb nail, but it did move very smoothly, just not easily. On the only F I have left, an Apollo FTn model it move easier but still I could feel the same clicking underneath.

Did you try using your thumb nail?

FWIW, mine (bought new) is not stiff @ all, about the same as my vintage Nikon RFs.

Mine is about the same as the vintage S3, no problems. I'm sure yours will loosen up a bit with use.

Ray, it obviously needs servicing. Send it to me and I'll take care of it for you, gratis. It shouldn't take more than six months or so to repair.

Don't forget to include a lens.

:)

Now Ken, you know you're only certifiable on SPs, you were out during the S3 class!!

And obviously during the estimation class too. If you were there you would know it's nine months for such a hard fix!

You do need to press these in. They have some kind of spring loading. If I firlm press mine with my thumb, it turns just fine.

Vince is right. When I push in with my thumb and then turn it she spins freely. Not easily, but very freely.

Now that I'm home and messing around with my S3-2000, I see that mine is also so stiff it might as well be frozen.

Everyone, pushups on your finger tips. We'll start with ten a day and go up one every day. In a month we will all have no problem moving the ASA dial.

Ready and ..........
