Hi all,

I have an early M3 (still for sale) and would like to know if the different M3 pressure plates (glass/metal) look the same. The metal pressure plate in my M2 definitely looks different than the one in the M3. Now I am unsere what pressure plate my M3 has. A small magnet will stick to the plate but the plate's mount is metal so that is not a 100% proof for me.
Can someone help me out with pictures of the different pressure plates or other hints to find out what my M3 has? I attached a picture of the pressure plate.

Cheers
Thomas-Michael

If your M3's serial number is 856000 or higher, the film pressure plate is metal. If the serial number is lower than 856000, the plate is glass.

Both plates work just as well; IIRC they switched to metal to save on production costs.

My M3 is way below 856000. It is 751xxx but I do not know if the pressure plate was exchanged in the past.

Actually, the pressure plate does look like glass one. Looking at it closely, there is the metal frame around the plate.

Yes, it is framed contrary to the one in the M2 which is one piece rounded at the short sides. I also have a spare one which is framed, too. So I have a glass plate in reserve? Wow.
