Hello,

really new to rangefinderforum.com I will start my first posting here with two questions.

The first deals with the "monster lens": I managed to get my second Canon 7 together with this lens. I've never seen before the lens in this version. It is not black allover but has a huge chrome ring for focusing. Is this an older version of the 0.95/50?

The second question deals with the metering of this Canon 7. The ASA-Ring can't be settled to ASA 400. Only 100 and then it will go no further. By comparing it to my other Canon 7 it looks different in the metering window. Sometimes even the needle "hangs". Any chance to get a repair manual and get it working again with the method "do it yourself"?

BTW: The needles in the metering window of the two cameras are different: One is orange, the other has a silver color.

Greetings from Austria

Alex

Looks like the paint was worn off the focusing ring.

The shutter speed dial was probably assembled wrong. It's tricky. (See my recent comment on the removing Canon 7 top plate thread.) Also a matter of meshing the gear on the ASA dial correctly with the f-stop dial in the meter.

I'd agree that from the picture, it's just a case of paint wear. From that I'd surmise the lens has seen a great deal of use.

The rest seems to be a case of assembly by either an amateur or a poorly trained camera tech. The camera may have other problems that you haven't found. I'd take a roll of test shots as soon as possible, including tests of the 0.95.

I'd also advise the seller that there appear to be problems with the camera, which means it does not appear to be as described. That's assuming he said it was working properly.
