I am new to owning a Leica M4.
I currently own an Elmar 5 cm f2.8, but am interested in obtaining a
Zeiss 28 f2.8 ZM lense. However, the framelines on the M4 are 35/50/90/135. Someone at a local camera store said that I could use the whole full viewfinder as an estimate for a 28mm lense.
Is this true or false?
Or is it entirely out of the question to mount a Zeiss 28mm on the M4?
Thanks in advance for your help.

True. The .72 x viewfinder precisely covers the 28mm frame. You don't need a separate frame.

Yes, if you get your M4 framelines "upgraded" to the framelines of the M4-P you'll get the 28mm flamelines but they're right up against the edge of the finder. By itself the whole finder image works with a 28mm lens.
