I got the Unicolor 2-liter package from Freestyle and will be souping some C41 tomorrow morning. Two simple questions.
1) I only got the 2-liter because 1-liter was out of stock. I'm going to just mix half of the powder in each package. If I seal them all up in ziploc bags, will the remaining powder keep for the few months it will take to exhaust the first batch?
2) The instructions say to pour the contents of the blix package into the container...but there are two blix packages, marked BLIX A and BLIX B. I assume I pour them both in together, in the same mixture?
Thanks! I'll post results tomorrow night, I hope.

Mixing part of a bag of powder is asking for trouble. All of the bags I have ever seen (B&W chemistry) cleary state: "MIX ALL OF THE CONTENTS".

Well, I can't do that. So I suppose I'll have to throw out the other half.

I have never tried it, but I have read that you can mix it all then freeze it and it will be fine.

I just don't have the containers! All of mine are 1 liter.
I'm most concerned about the blix packages though!

Try and see what happens... Usually in any products, the manufacturers are over-careful with their recommendations.
Or make two 1 liter sets of chemicals and store the other one.

I have exactly 3 1-liter airless containers, enough for dev, blix, and stabilizer, that's it.
I just need to know whether I should mix the A and B blix packages!

I'd mix it all and dump what you can't store- trying to halve the powder will be more difficult than dumping half the liquid, unless you've got a good scale and are used to dividing large amounts of powder.

I don't have clean containers large enough to mix it all. I really, really, honestly, totally, absolutely don't. I just don't. I don't! I have three one-liter containers, that's all. My larger containers are filled with D76 and Rodinal. I can't mix it all. Please just forget I ever asked question #1. Alls I want is the answer to question #2, if someone knows it.

I am sorry if we offended you. Containers are easy to get-more or less for free. I store all my chemicals in 1/2 gallon, amber, food grade containers. I have had great success with half gallon Arizona Tea containers. They hold slightly less than 2 liters. You won't be throwing very much away. Drink the product and Presto! Chemical storage.
Again, I'm sorry, but I don't have an answer for the blix mixing.

It's OK. I halved the powders AND combined the blixes and it all worked. I'll put scans into the larger home dev thread in a couple of hours!

Not sure about C-41, but for E-6 the color developer comes as A and B parts, and they do get mixed. I guess it's because they start to deteriorate once mixed, so they need to be separate on the shelf.

You couldve just bought a couple Coca-Colas and get containers ;-).
