I'm about to bid on this stuff...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130363959073&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123
Any idea who might manufacture it? Maybe Konica-Minolta?
Just wondering if anyone has purchased the same or used K-M C-41 B&W...
Thanks----David.

It's not the Kodak stuff, it has a brown colour. I'm thinking Ilford or Fuji.

Thanks Kully...it says it's neither Kodak nor Ilford. Who else manufactures? I think just Fuji and Konica-Minolta? Just wondering if anyone recognized the emulsion color, or had any experience with K-M. I totally trust Fuji, Kodak, and Ilford for chromogenic b&w.

Agfa used to have some as well. But I don't remember ever having seen a chromogenic b&w whose emulsion was not brown or reddish. Either very odd stuff, or it's no picture of the item on sale...

Just re-read the Ebay post...says it's comparable to Kodak, Neopan, and Ilford. So the $64,000 question is who else makes it now?

No, I think the question is "who used to make it?" The listing does not claim that it's fresh, just "cold stored" and "tested to work perfectly."
That's code for "past expiration date," if you ask me.
I wouldn't draw any conclusions from that generic photo, either.
The seller does have some positive feedback on identical items.

Great points! Thanks.
I suspect the photo in the auction is simply a generic film photo, as it's clearly not Kodak BW400CN (the leader is maroon). Ilford/Fuji chromogenic film is grey, but with a faint purplish tinge. The auction photo shows a lighter neutral grey leader such as you'd see on a traditional silver process B&W film. I've not seen Konica chromogenic, so I don't know what its leader would look like.

If it's Konica, the tonality is awful: flat, dead, muddy. Lucky's is even worse: as Frances said, "It gave me one negative that was almost printable."

actually the one i have contemplated for a long time is by ultrafineonline, which is selling a white-labelled xp-2, 24 exposures for 135 format. They provide free shipping. You can find it here: http://stores.ebay.com/UltraFine-Di...Z3QQ_sidZ111197603QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322 They claim it is Dated Late 2008, dunno if this refers to expiry date or not. hope this helps.

I just tried some of the Kodak C41 CN film and do not like it at all. I get a lot better results just using the cheap Fuji 200 or 400 color films and desaturating it in PS. Normally I only shoot Tri-X, but I've been chasing down some light leaks on a FSU camera and it's much easier to give Walgreen's a roll of 24 exp color film and get a CD back in an hour for $5 and change. Then look at the negs and see if I fixed things. I even like the look of the desaturated Fuji color film in B&W pretty well.

I know you passed on this film, but I was at the Freestyle's website, and they list a Rollie C41 BW film (200-400 ISO)... Could Rollie re-brand to sell more rolls worldwide?
