Quick opinion on film

regarding scanner. Has anyone used the Plustek Opticfilm 7200i. the 'i' version apparently has better software that includes infrared scratch removal, similar to nikons ICE.

i know this printer doesnt have the dmax of the higher end scanners. but it still has to be better than a flatbed right? the price is similar if not lower than flatbed photo printers. it has a Dmax of 3.3, which apparently is mroe than what negatives can give but slightly less than a good slide.

having said that. i might try scanning with a cheap flatbed first to see if the results are ok for the web and smaller prints. Im pretty sure theres a neg scanner at the computer lab at uni, but im not sure if its functioning.

Great thread. I've just started getting into b&w, but have been using my epson scanner to scan in negs made from my lomo and holga. I got a fed5 a few weeks ago (and kiev 4 and yashica gsn on the way - it's a disease) and started shooting b&w. I love it but hate waiting for my film to come back, and the prints have generally been terrible. I did my own processing back in college, but it's been 15 years or so. I just wanted to say that this thread has inspired me to start doing my own processing. I didn't realize I didn't need an official "darkroom and" I can make prints from my scanner and mac. Thanks for the info.

I can only get the 50 velvia and 100f here, 100 is not available. i also cant find 1600iso anywhere. Im in shanghai atm. I also wanted to give the sensia a shot.

It's just my opinion, but I think you should buy up a freezerful of the RVP-50 if you've got some available. I think that's one of the punchiest films around, if you're into that sort of thing. I also think that 100f is a worthy successor to the 100.

Good shooting. A well-exposed slide, someone once said, will make you look like a hero.

Yes, if you can't set up a dark room for loading the film into the tank, you could always get a changing bag. I just sit on the couch and watch the TV while loading my reels.... :)

Slightly OT, but I can't do that. For some reason (residue form youthful training?) I inevitably close my eyes when I start fiddling in the changing bag. Anybody else do this or do I need therapy? Seems like I can visualize (?) better what I hope is going on in the bag.
