quick question about UL'ing pics

I haven't been around for quite a while and I tried uploading some pics today but couldn't seem to get my head wrapped around it. First, I tried five because the UL page listed 5 as the limit. That didn't work even though they were all within the 300kb limit. Then tried 3 and that didn't work either. Got a message that one of them exceeded the upload limit. Hmm....

Could anyone shine some light down here for me?

Also, what does this mean: "Retrieve all images from a URL:"

Would appreciate yur help😉
