How tightly should my lens be screwed in?

I have no other experience with LTM cameras, and without that 'click' that I'm used to on F-mounts, I always feel uneasy when I screw my lens on. Right now I'm just going until it seems to be reasonably tight. The center line on my J8 ends up slightly to the left of center.

I'm a bit neurotic when it comes to small things like this. 😱

Many screw mount lenses do not sit perfectly at the 12 o'clock position. There shouldn't be a problem though with focussing, it's merely a matter of how comfortable you are with it. Mind you, any corrections to the 12 o'clock position should be done on the lenses, not on the body. There's two reasons for that. One is that all lenses are different, and adjusting the body for one lens would mean it's off for another again. And further, the body mount can only be turned 90degrees. Instead, a lot of lenses have provisions to reseat the mount by much smaller amounts. Here's an example: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14413
