quite a beauty.. M2 bp original plus stuff

not much difference between this bp M2 and a new, cheaper bp MP... "One MP and $3000 please." We are we so in love with old things? Old things suck.

mmm...old things are also collectible, though i can't imagine its value going up very much. more to complete a collection, i'd say.

This black M2 is actually in nice shape! The black Leicavit is even rarer and if it is still workin, a nice piece. No parts available for these anymore though and they tend to act up after a lot of film through them. The chain stretches and you start having to "double stroke" it.
The body is in unusually good shape (this is based on what my black M2/M3's looked like and my only original black M2 still looks like). These were mainly sold to working pro's and lived a precarious life.
The beauty of having used all of these now collectible cameras is that I can sigh and say "Been there, done that and dinged it too"
If I had to spend $5-7000 on cameras, it would be 1/2 dozen chrome M2's and a couple of spray cans of semi gloss black paint!

HSI, have you ever waited for a Shintaro paint job? I have, took almost a year , with months without any replys to my many emails. Thought my camera and money were a goner. Then one day, this beautiful Black Canon P is in my hand and all is well. I love a happy ending.

Guys

Tom A is correct

- the origional paint finish just dissappeared with any use, like getting it out of the origional box!
- it pitted with sweaty hands, nose, porous paint
- the pros dinged them horrible.
- gears wore out and spares non existent, non M2 parts substituted during Leitz maintenance.

this is a knicker drawer camera, out of 2000.
