I have used some fast lenses in the past two years, including Nikons 50/1.2 AIS, Canons EF 50/1.2 and 85/1.2 L, several fast Canon FD lenses, the Nokton 35/1.2 and the 50/1 Noctilux. I kept the lens for a short time, liked the images, didnt like the weight, never felt comfortable with a several thousand $ kit around my neck and finally put it up for sale.

I didnt expect to find another lens with a signature like "the real thing" again. I didnt even look for it. Then I discovered the old Canon FL 58/1.2, a 1960s (!) design, and there it was... character.

Would love to hear your story. Whats your favorite fast lens and which SLR lens would you consider "quite like the Noct"?

I've just gotten used to not having a 50/1.2 around and now you have to post this. Damn you!

Beautiful stuff, really showing what one can do with a fast lens wide open. I especially like the second one.

I love fast canon primes. The only other lens maker that is equal or better than canon at making balanced fast primes is leica IMO.

The 85mm 1.2L II will make you believe in god.

Me four!

Hey, come on Prosaic...you can't get us all excited about this lens and then take away our candy!
