Hi All,

i've attempted with little success at adjusting the focus on my R-D1. Initially the problem was a clear HORIZONTAL miss alignment and a very minor VERTICAL ghosting.

After getting the HORIZONTAL about right, i attempted at correcting the vertical.

This made matters much worst. I can't seem to get the VERT anywhere close to what it used to be. I have the following three problems:

1. It seems that by moving the VERT screw i can get very little adjustment and the patch image is never above the viewfinder one. (see image below, red line is the patch focus)

2. It seems that the VERT alignment changes from the bottom half to the top of half of the patch. Is this normal (see image below)?

3. I get the feeling that the same variable miss alignment (see image above) happen on the horizontal alignment.

This is my first rangefinder, and it came miss aligned, so i don't have a really clear pic of what is a correctly adjusted viewfinder.

Can someone help me? is there a procedure i should follow (1. get the vertical in the right place 2. then the horizontal ... )?

So far i've been working close to my window, checking the infinity focus on hand rails from the opposite building, is this a good technique?

I would like to think i'm quite mechanically inclined, and i figured since this problem seem to happen quite often i might as well learn how to do it myself. Or should i just take it somewhere to be repaired?

Thanks a lot for you help,

Ciao, Crudo.

OK, i am an imbecile. I miss-read the instructions and was turning the focus screw thinking it was the vertical one, no wonder it had no effect...

I will try again tomorrow... sorry all...
