R-D1 Elmarit 90/2.8, nice?

OK, perhaps I should have posted this in the gallery but I thought R-D1 users might want to celebrate what a great camera it is. This is shot with my Elmarit-90/2.8. I use a Leica 135 bright lines viewer for framing which works great.

I do suffer from M-8 envy but then I get a shot like this......

Nice shot and nice lens. I don't use my 90 on the R-D1 (hardly use the 90 at all), but when I do use it the results are very pleasing (to me at least).

No need to envy the M8 as long as you have a working R-D1 😉

I'm thinking about a fast 85 or 90mm lens (preferably an old Summicron) on the R-D1, too, especially since I have a Canon 135mm finder (from the VT-VI) which could be adjusted and fixed into the right angle to work with the Epson. But I'm not shure how often I would take such a lens out of the house... like the 135 Canon which is catching dust...

Gid/Deed, thanks for the comments. I rarely leave the house without the 90/2.8. It is such a sharp lens and the investment in the Leitz brighlines viewfinder has been well worth it. Mind you, I shoot a lot of urban landscapes like the one above.

The 90/2.8 is one of my favourite lenses for my M6.
I tried it briefly on my RD1s, but couldn't seem to focus it very well.
Is there any add on that would make it easier to use?

An eyepiece magnifier might help -- I find it makes a big difference with longer and/or very-wide-aperture lenses.

The eyepiece accessories made for some Nikon DSLR models also fit the thread on the R-D 1, so you can choose from a Nikon magnifier or the one sold by Megaperls for the Nikon D70 (they're not allowed to sell it for use on the R-D 1 because Leica obtained a patent on the use of an eyepiece magnifier on a rangefinder camera.)

A magnifier probably would help.
After I posted I took my 90mm lens out again and achieved some better results.
It certainly proves how sharp the RD1s can be - when I get the focus right. 🙄
