R-D1 in the cold

Have anyone of you used your R-D1 in cold temperatures? I mean something like 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit). I’m going to buy one and would like to know if I can use it outside during the winter. My DSLR or other cameras have never had any problems.

i'm wondering the same thing, but more along the lines of -10 C... not 25. I will go to the beach if its 25 C outside. I am taking a winter trip this winter to Latvia, wondering if I should bring 20 batteries, or just bring film, heh.

25 degrees C? Or minus 25 degrees C?

I have used mine in the dead of Mongolian winter. It'll work. The main problem will be battery life, but that's a problem a regular dSLR also has. Take the regular precautions to extend battery life, and to prevent fogging and condense forming.

You mean -25°C? Because 25 is quite warm. I've used mine in the alps during past winter, temperatures clearly below zero (°C) but not -25, maybe -5°C or -8°C. Kept it under the Goretex jacket as often as possible, had the replacement accus in the warm trousers pocket, no problems.

I had it with me while skiing, without a case, outside the whole time. I don't know how cold it was, maybe -5° to -10° Celsius but surely below 0°. It worked without a problem, the only thing I noticed was that the cocking lever and exposure time selector were a little stiffer.
