Just back from a holiday in Bali (Indonesia). Had been using my E-P1 mostly but chose the R-D1 and cv 40/1.4 combo @ 400 iso for capturing the monkeys. My girlfriend was using the E-P1 and as good a camera as it is the best on the day were all from the R-D1!
The new toy had me forgetting what an incredible camera the R-D1 is...

Hi John, great shots. Do you find the R-D1 a much better camera than the E-P1?

awesome John... I've found that the 40 1.4 is the only lens that has a fulltime job on the R-D1. It's just magic, the combo.

I like #5 -- right on the corner of the masonry, the monkey looks like a stone gargoyle on a Gothic building.

Hey, those are the guys who stole my peanuts when I was there 32 years ago! Turnstile justice, I tell you.
I also like the look of the Nokton 40mm on the R-D1.

Not really. For these conditions though, the R-D1 was very well suited. I am enjoying the E-P1 immensely at the moment and it takes a great picture with beautiful colours. But under these conditions, the R-D1 has it's own special 'look'. I also needed the very shallow DOF to isolate the monkeys from the distracting background.
All in all, it was a great 'reminder' of just how good the R-D1 is

John, you did a good job with the RD1 ...respect ! But the Modells seems to be well trained ;-)

Yes Michael
The 'models' were very comfortable around humans. If you had food they would jump onto you and search your bag. While we were there they stole a bracelet off a young girl - no doubt to try and eat it later...

Gorgeous photos - those monkeys make me want a 40mm too.

The photos are nice, but I already have enough of the best lenses ever made that the addition of a 40mm Nokton could not possibly improve my photography. (A difficult admission for a hard-bitten GAS sufferer like me.) These photos make me want to travel to Bali.
