Hi,
I recently got the R-D1 yesterday and I took it shooting. An odd observation was that the rangefinder patch is not in the exact center of the framing lines. In my Leica M2 it is bang in the centre. Is this normal??
I havent downloaded any pictures to the computer but the camera seems to be taking pictures properly.
Kind Regards,
Prashant Kumar.

When you focus the rangefinder, the frame lines move to compensate for parallax. However, unlike the M2, the R-D1 focusing patch does not move with the frame lines. It stays in the centre.

Hi,
i have got my new r-d1 as second owner. It works fine, but i have the same problem as you . I heared about that, somebody says that many r-d1 have this not in centre.
Could anyone say more about it ? Repair ? or still like it ?

24mgdriver: I have been using the R-D1 for past couple of weeks..don't worry about the patch moving..as I understand it, it is meant to do so..I use it with the 40mm Summicron and the 90mm Elmar-C and my pictures have come out perfectly fine..enjoy the R-D1..
if you want to see some pics by the kit..here's the link

This is not "a problem", it is perfectly normal (even though it may be a bit disconcerting at first). It's exactly the same in my Bessa R2A (now why would that be
).
