Don't phones have digital cameras in them? Who needs something like this?😀

You mean there's a camera IN MY PHONE?

WOW now I can sell all that cumbersome camera equipment!!!😀

There is another thread about this, and it seems old news except that when the BJP says its so then it is. Good news is the commitment to support the camera for the next 6 years.

Don't shoot the messenger mate - I thought it maybe help someone here to hear Robert White still have some of the cameras .......
not shooting at ya - only this news has been reported in RFF twice already, so i don't see a reason to report again. but then, it's up to you. you just go ahead, will you?

🙂

No successor, eh? I bet when full-frame sensors dropped in price, there'll be plans for Epson RD-2 or should it be named R2D-2 ? 😉

Oh many thanks for the permission sebastel.

Think the interest and variety of postings in the thread already - not including your own contrbutions of course, show the amount of interest in the news from the U.K. and justify it. So thanks to the other contributors.

I note you haven't been on RFF for quite a year yet, so there is no need to continue to read the thread if it's not of any interest to you. But not shooting at ya ......

airds: Please don't get too p-oed ... we need you here, esp. in light of the fact that we sometimes discuss classic single malts and how they complement classic rangefinders...

Thanks Trius mate,

No worries - I've been worked over by experts in my day!

Like your choice of RF's there. I'm usually a Canon man, but I've got the same pair as above now. The the first time I came across the wee XA was not long after they launched, while in discharging coal in Japan, early '81ish - got good memories, I think, of the 3rd (Marine) Engineer buying one and getting rewarded in Saki, so I had to keep the side and get a good Velbon tripod - still going strong. Unlike us the next morning. .... but when in Rome, do as the Romans do!

Ted with XA, and the said three legged friend somewhere in the Pacific, as evidence is attached.

ps
A good whisky blog with some links for you.

And if we had all the comments on the R-D1's demise in one thread instead of three or four it would be much easier to get a sense of the overall reaction of the forum.
