R-D1 Replacment NR.3...Uhhhh..

Hey:)

My natural cynicism leads me to agree with Bertram. The Epson person's statement that the lens may not be callibrated with the viewfinder would seem to indicate that any ignorance is on their part. The proof of the pudding is, after all, in the nabbling.

ManGo

I believe his comment is aimed at the company, not the employee!
I think the issue they face is, with so many old lenses out there, the issue might be with the lenses themselves.
But I do agree the frame lines can’t be blamed on any lens. The tilt on the image is very bad!

I!
Your comment has been very rude and very silly too. To believe something is not knowing it. Why did you not ask me if you felt unable to understand what I wrote instead of calling me an ignorant ? Is that the new discussion style here ? No thanks ! Better go to pnet, there are enuff of your kind to make you feel at home.

What an ignorant remark!
Canon Fodder, please! You are a recent member here so may not realize this is a "kinder, gentler" forum wherein we find more diplomatic ways of raising questions about another's comments. Chill, and be cool. :)

Hello:)

I was just wondering, is this problem one of wonky framelines or wonky sensors? My undersatnding of the manufacture of the RD-1 is that CV build the body with all the rangefinder bits and then Epson stuff in the sensor and the all the other bits that go fizz.

ManGo

Interesting question, Mango. I guess in this instance, the frame lines are SO far out, that you could find out by putting a spirit level on the top of the camera, and photographing a window, ignoring the frame lines. If the picture lines up, it's the v/f, and if it doesn't, it's the sensor (please, someone check my logic here :) )

I have had a Minolta A1 that had a wonky sensor, so it can happen.

Phil

re the comment about 'a camera from a printer/scanner company' - doesn't that also apply to Canon? ;)

My apologises to anyone I offended. But such a swiping statement is nothing but idiotic, after all don’t we all love our R-D1s even with these QA setbacks??
I’m sure a company such as Seiko, which let us not forget, is one of the largest in the world and will be learning from the errors made in production the using the data in the R-D2, if there is such a thing.

Congrats ! This must be the very most idiotic apology I've ever read :bang:
You are really far out man, to say the least ! Therapy resistant in other words.
Did you take lessons for that behaviour or did you learn these impertinent manors where you grew up ?
Now go and play nice, with your precious beloved toy I mean. Could happen the moderator will teach you a lesson anyway soon, about playing nice here in the forum.

Well I’m sorry if I can’t express an opinion in this forum and I’m sorry to atufte1@mac.com for apparently derailing your topic.

You must realize your fault in tarring an entire company with a single brush? If you don’t I hope someday you will.

I think I’ll take your advice and take my R-D1 questions and contributions elsewhere. If possible please could an admin remove me from any mailing list and delete my account.

Good day to you all.

Doesn't understand, I think, that calling someone else's well-meant comments "ignorant" and "idiotic" is offensive... :(

Hi Doug,

maybe he is used to to use these words where he comes from, but that's no reason for me to swallow it. If somebody calls me an ignorant and my statements idiotic he forces me to step down to his level for an adaequate answer.

Unfortunately I never could learn to handle such verbal attacks with noble silence,
too often i found that misunderstood as weakness and a free ticket to continue this way. No, who wants to play rough gets a rough play, even much more rough if wanted, no prob. I am at home in both worlds.

Thanks for the support and best regards,
Bertram

God!! some of you guys should get an award for perseverance and/or martyrdom!!
P.S. I would severely doubt if there will be an R-D2! Especially with Cosina now being busy in bed with Zeiss! :D
