So . . . fellow R-D1(s)-ers . . .

Now that the BJP has officially announced the demise of the Epson R-D1(s), will resale values go up or dn.

IMO, price will stay about where it is for a while longer rather than suddenly plummeting as it would have if a new model at a lower price point had been announced.

But that's just me ;)

What say YOU, oh collective wisdom of the accumulated forum!

Joe,
My crystal ball developed some haze and fungus over the years...

The price may stay where it is if no other digital RF apart from the M8 is announced soon, it may come down as already some M8s are becoming available 2nd hand, it may come further down if VC announces its digital rangefinder...

I am not investing in the stock market - sometimes betting on horses as the outcome is more predictable than on the stock- or camera market. ;)

Best regards,
Uwe

Since there's a finite supply of R-D1's and the only other DRF camera is the M8 I would like to think that the resale values for the R-D1 will remain pretty stable. Will they appreciate from where they are now? That I doubt. Will they drop below $1k? Not unless there's a new DRF contender available to make more people want to sell R-D1's than buy them. Ultimately the price will plateau over time.

Economics 101 ...
