Does anyone know what I could use to glue the rubber pads back down to the camera body? The original glue has lost its grip and I need to clean it off. It appears to have been a big black sticky glue pad. Can I find something similar to this somewhere?

Also, has anyone had any success using a replacement leather from cameraleathers.com? http://www.cameraleather.com/epson/

When i owned an RD-1 i used a type of 3M double sided adhesive. it was in the form of a thin roll tape. It works just fine.

I've a CameraLeather replacement, but left the rear rubber alone as the thumb grip/groove is integrated. I chose the Kid skin in Verdi Gris. Turned out like so:

Yeah I remember. Getting the stuff off was an ordeal, its a wonder the rubber started loosening to begin with. I used the friction method, in other words my thumb and a tooth pick or ten - for fear of glue disolving fluids (acetone et al)making their way into the innards. But it was worth it in my opinion.

Hi,

I change the rubber cover for Grip Tac from Cameraleather. Fits nicely. I eveb change the back and it's ok.

Regards

Hey Johnmcd, which leather option is that? I'm worried the Griptac will be too thin and not feel flush around the edges.

As for getting sticky stuff off, I always use duct tape.

Me too. I was afraid Griptac will be too thin. But it is just fine and very nice to handle.

The Kid skin is also thinner than the rubber, but looks and feels perfect for the task.

as much as i love using different coloured leather for my camera skins, i love the grip tac best.
it feels thick enough on the rd1 and it does really grip nicely.

Hi Johnny,

The leather you see on my R-D1 is called black levant leather. It covers all irregularities perfectly. It has given the camera a real classy look that perhaps it should have always had considering the price :)

Cheers,

John

There are the pictures. I'm not sure of the quality.
