R-D1s - Firmware upgrade

jlw (or anyone) - do you have a link to the original R-D1 info that describes the microlens positioning and heat sink? If they really are the same, I can buy an R-D1 and not have to wait for the "s"!

Hi Steve,

Did you see the new additions to my long-term R-D1 review? *If* the information from my contact at Epson Europe is correct, the only change in the R-D1S is firmware. I'm waiting to get confirmation about this from Epson Japan but I suspect it's correct. If that's the case, you can get your R-D1 now and just update the firmware yourself on or after June 15 for a "do it yourself" R-D1S. I'll update the article when I get confirmation on the "firmware only". I'm working on getting a copy of the firmware to test.
