Hi,
I've just recently purchased an R-D1s (two weeks ago) and am thus far extremely happy with it. It's my fisrt rangefinder and although it's taking me a while to get used to it, I'm happy with the results thus far.
However... it appears that the shutter speed dial has become jammed/locked. I've had it set on AP almost entirely since turning it on for the first time. Today I thought I'd experiment with some manual shots only to find that I could not rotate the dial. According to the manual it requires the 'dial-lock' button to be pressed while in AP mode. I've tried this but the dial seems to be locked tight.
Has anyone else had this probem and if so, can they suggest a way to unlock the dial short of sending it back to the manufacturer?
Apart from this - I love the R-D1s. I just picked up a an M-bayonet adapter to allow mounting of an old Jupietr 8 and was suprised at how well the shots came out. I've put a couple of my early efforts up on Flickr should anyone care to take a look.
Thanks to all for making this such a great board. I've picked up some great tips and seen many an inspiring shot in some of the galleries!

Hmm. Seems like the AE lock button isn't doing its thing. The button is mechanical and very simple, and I'm sure it's straightforward to fix whatever's wrong with it - but you'll have to take the to plate off: see http://www.richcutler.co.uk/r-d1/r-d1_18.htm.
Once the top plate is off, check out the AE lock mechanism inside the top plate: arrowed in Fig. 1 on http://www.richcutler.co.uk/r-d1/r-d1_20.htm.
Taking off the top plate is easier than it seems - good luck!
Alternatively, print out the relevant web pages from my site and give them and your camera to your local camera repair shop - any technician should be able to handle this straightforward job.

Thanks Rich. The instructions you've put up look very clear however I'm reluctant to take the camera apart myself just in case I either make things worse or void my warranty. I bought the camera here in the UK so I'll give the supplier a call in the morning. Hopefully they can give me a replacement rather than sending it off to Japan for repair.
Thanks again.
