Hello,

I am trying to decide between the R-D1S and the R-D1X. I understand the physical differences (the grip; the SDHC support; the LCD display)

When I read the initial press releases regarding the R-D1X, they mentioned that the camera had improved image processing thanks to EDiART. What does this mean ? Is the RAW camera image improved in the R-D1X versus the R-D1S ?

Thanks for your feedback!

OK, well, I actually had no choice in my decision. I could find no R-D1S in shops anywhere (there was one in Fujiya Camera last week-end but someone pulled the trigger faster than I did!)

So I bought a R-D1X.

And I probably should introduce myself::) I am a European guy living in Tokyo. I have been shooting rangefinders for a few years. Digital suits my overall tastes and workflow well. Been lurking around this forum for a while and appreciate the depth of collective knowledge you all have contributed here!

Now, all I need to do is to find some more spare batteries and get out shooting!

Welcome aboard. For the R-d1 series the word on the street is that third party batteries on Ebay usually work quite well.

When you find out what this EDiART is, let us know.

Hi,
the image processing engine of ALL R-D1-models is named "EDiART", may be the last version is further improved.
