R-d1s Viewfinder

Hello

As much as I love my R-d1s, I have always
had trouble using it with the wider lenses [28, and even 35].

It only feels comfortable with 50mm, for my old eyes !

Is there any way to modify it to a 0.7 type finder similar
to the Bessa R series ?

I just find them [28, 35 framelines ] almost on the periphery
of my eyes view.

I really prefer the 0.7 magnification Bessa viewfinders, feels like I can step back a a bit from the framelines and compose
the subject more comfortably.

i have no idea about modifying the finder, sorry.
for actual use, i get an idea of what the lens will cover and then i mostly concentrate on the main part of the image anyway.

when in doubt (first couple of shots) i will use the lcd for a check.

I find my 28mm f2.8 M-Rokkor covers more than I can see with the 28 frame - on the sides but not much top and bottom. What's your experience with Rokkor and/or other makes?

I presume those having this trouble are nearsighted? I have slight myopia, and even with a 1.3x magnifier, I can still see (just barely) the 28 lines, and easily with the magnifier off.

I've never heard of a way to de-magnify the VF, but if I get a chance, and keep my RD1, I'm going to go for a reduced 1.15x magnifier.

You might want to get an external finder for 28, otherwise look at the .58 mag M models.

Hi,
Try an external 35mm viewfinder from Voigtlander. It fits exactly the 28 M-Rokkor.

Thanks for the tips.

I thought about an external finder, but I like the preciseness
and quickness of using the range-finder finder.

Re frame lines I find the CV 40mm Nokton gives me exactly
the 35mm VF frame lines, which is nice.
The Minolta CLE 40mm is also great for the above reason, and
is also super compact.

I have the Minolta CLE 28mm, but rarely use it because I cant
"see" the frame lines.

I like 50mm the best, as the frame lines are way back.

Maybe I should rip out the viewfinder from a Bessa
Or just use an SLR !
