Well, I hate my 75 Summilux....always did...I had to have it and never bonded to it......anyway....the Eppi...just sings with a 50 Summicron....The frame lines are closer than the 35...who cares but the point being....the vision of the camera is very interesting.....if I put the 75 on any of my M's....sucksville.......go figure.....
 
Is it the focal length, or the actual physical lens that you don't like?

I tried the 75 CV - it seems a nice enough lens, but I'm not interested in that focal length on a RF camera.
 
I also have the CV 75, love it for my film RFs, but without the proper frame lines it's hard on the rd-1s. For the Epson I use the ZM 50/2 planar for 85% of my shooting.
 
Yes one of the major flaws of the M8 IMO is its weird 1.3x crop factor which makes 50mm lenses either too short or too long, and 75mm lenses too long.
50mm lenses make outstanding 75's on the R-D1 & R-D1s, even at f/1.4 where the RF is accurate enough if it is well aligned (did not try the Noctilux).
The R-D2 (?), digital ZI or whatever future DRF will have an APS-C sensor hopefully.

What I'm talkin' about it...the focal length on the M with a 75mm vrs the 50mm on the Eppi...essentially the same...but I hate it on the M's.....

good point about the lens size....definately a major issue......

the 50mm and the 35mm probably will do all that I need...I do have the 28mm Ultron but undecided if I will keep it...nice but no cigar....I could always use my M lenses for the eppi...

anyway....back to lightroom.......later don
 
the point , my point is....that this camera is slowly becoming a part of my vision. To some maybe it's just a camera/lens...but to me it's a part of my photography and thus, my life. My vision is transforming again even after 45+years.....to me this is a exciting visual time...like being born once again....
habits are being broken, changed, process changing, thoughts changing, vision anew.......so maybe there is no point..but to me...that is the very excitement of breathing photography......don
 
I agree that this camera (R D1) changes my vision for sure in terms of what is a normal lens. The lines and crop factor present "limitations" which will hopefully translate into growth whether the 28, 35, or 40 becomes my new normal. If it is the 40mm, that would be a significant change. I have a 21mm lens but to just look at that as a "wider than" 35mm lens (which was my focal length of choice) in this format doesn't make sense so I am drawn to other focal lengths and not sure what I will ultimately find works. Fun!
