R-D1x on eBay.

On sale now apparently.$3,038 US. I wonder if that means they will service the older R-D1 now. They are virtually the same camera no?

I don't know the specifics but I believe you're correct, the new R-D1x is not much different (afaik it even uses the same sensor) than the older R-D1s. That said, from everything I've read here , it probably makes sense not to count on Epson to provide any service because their support for this camera has never been so great.

They've been there for ages. If they don't sell in Japan they will never sell. Those of us who are partial to the R-D1 line-up are not about to pay 2-3 times that for what a used R-D1/R-D1s can be had. We acknowledge that the camera is "outdated", but like it anyway. But paying $3000 for what is in essence the same outdated camera? No way.
