The photography world lost two major figures this past August, Marc Riboud, and now Nathan Lyons.

Not sure if many here are familiar with Nathan Lyons. He was the founder of the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York. He was a former curator for the George Eastman House, a well respected educator, as well as a photographer. He was the author of two books on photography, the much regarded "Notations In Passing" and its sequel, "Riding First Class On The Titanic".

I highly recommend these books for any serious library on photography. Mr. Lyons, for me, will sorely be missed. I have had "Notations In Passing" on my night table for over 35 years.

i didn't know about Nathan Lyons, for what I read in the NYT link is worthwhile to look deeper at his work.

It was a sad week for photography, RIP Nathan and Marc.
