Any Leica screwmount lens will work. As you probably know, it goes by many names: M39, 39mm, Leica Screwmount (LSM), Leica threadmount (LTM), "L" mount, and so on.
Any of these will work with the Bessa.
Unfortunately, I can't give you any advice on which Leica lenses to buy. I myself am looking for a 75 or 90mm Leica...
What about M lenses? no. Don't work.
Most screw lenses can be fitted to an adapter onto M (bayonet) mount lenses, but not the other way around. Looks like Voigtlander is one of the few screwmount manufacturers these days..

I myself have a modern LSM Summicron 2.0 50mm.
It is a special Japanese edition of the latest version of the M mount summicron (chrome version, with the retractable hood), but with a screw mount.
It is excellent optically (probably the sharpest screw mount lens available) and fits nicely on my silver Bessa R. It is however very rare, I found it by accident while looking for something else.

How about a collapsible Leica Summicron in LTM?
Nicely sharp and back in its day, became a standard for performance. I also understand it was a lens often used by Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Though take care with it if you go with the old Summicron, even though my example is clear and pretty clean, it seems to catch more flare than my other lenses. (Of course, I could use a lens hood more than I do.)

Yes, I do have a collapsible Summicron 50/2 in LTM and have no problem collapsing it into a Bessa R. The rear of the lens doesn't contact any surface in the camera.
