Hi,

Does somebody know if the AE metering system of an R2A/R3A body choose the speed from rounded speed values or if it can select a more appropriated speed (like the Mamiya 7 for example which can select the speed by 1/3 stop increments in AE mode). One point to consider: the EV adjustement works by 1/3 stops, the ASA selection works by 1/3 stops... one could imagine / hope that the AE speed selection is made with that precision.

Correct exposure is very important for 35mm films...

Thanks !

JCM,
In my short experience with R3A, it tends to round the shutter speeds in A mode. The very first few rolls I shot with it, I used manual metering indoors with some overexposure and the negatives look pretty good.

Stephen Gandy has said here that the R{2,3}a have stepless shutter speeds in AE mode.

I have my doubts, but he's the authority on Voigtlander so I beleive him.

Hi,

Thanks for your answers.

I still doubt the speed is choosen from rounded shutter speed... The Zeiss Ikon camera body which most specifications (except EBL and viewfinder magnification) are really really close to the bessa R2/3 body can choose the shutter speed with 1/12 increments !
